Inspiring young women to succeed in an evolving world.
At All Hallows’, our commitment to providing an extraordinary education in the Mercy tradition is reflected not only in our teaching and learning but also in the spaces where growth and discovery occur. Our thoughtfully crafted Facilities Master Plan provides a long-ranging vision for developing our physical campus to support the school’s mission to nurture and challenge our students within a dynamic and holistic learning environment. The plan, developed in consultation with the school community, design and heritage and education experts, is central to preserving the balance between honouring our rich 163-year history and meeting the evolving needs of our students and staff. Our plan serves as a blueprint to ensure our facilities support a 21st-century education while preserving the heritage buildings that make our campus a cherished landmark in South East Queensland.
For our students, modern, functional spaces are essential to fostering academic, creative, and personal development. Our Master Facility Plan enables us to strategically enhance our campus, ensuring that classrooms, specialist learning areas, and recreational areas meet the highest standards of safety, sustainability, and innovation. Importantly, it also safeguards our unique and rich architectural history, ensuring our students and our community continue to experience the profound sense of belonging and inspiration that our campus provides.
Philanthropy plays a pivotal role in turning this vision into reality. Throughout our history, the generosity of our community has enabled us to provide opportunities for generations of students to flourish. By contributing to the development of our facilities, our donors become a valued part of the continuing story of All Hallows’, helping us maintain our legacy while shaping the future. Every gift, large or small, is an investment in the growth and potential of our students and the preservation of our heritage for generations to come.
We invite our community—parents, past pupils, staff, and friends—to join us in this important endeavour. Whether through donations, partnerships, or advocacy, your support is vital to achieving the goals outlined in our Master Facility Plan. Together, we can ensure that All Hallows’ remains a place where history is celebrated, innovation thrives, and our Mercy values continue to guide us forward.
We look forward to sharing more of our vision over the coming weeks and months. Look out for:
- A reimagined 501 Ann Street to support our students learning with newly designed and constructed classrooms and staff rooms spanning three levels
- A pedestrian air-bridge over Dodge Lane for our students to access their new classroom safely guiding them from the piazza to level 2 of 501 Ann Street, and
- A purpose-built student wellbeing centre providing a dedicated space for our students’ holistic growth, aiding them to feel supported, valued and empowered to thrive
Completed Projects
St Gertrude's
The upgrade St Gertrude's for our Years 5 & 6 students was completed in Term Four, 2024. This beautiful area includes seating nodes with shade trees, a combined fort and tunnel, and custom rope play. There are tables and seating for groups to eat in a restful and shaded environment.
Colour and design have been utilised to encourage our students to explore, play and exercise in a safe and open environment.
McAuley Hall
McAuley Hall was opened in 1958 and originally was a training college for the Sisters of Mercy. The top two floors were bedrooms and level 1 and 2 were teaching spaces. Since 2006 when primary years were reintroduced to the school, the building has accommodated Years 5-7 and their associated library. With the change of Year 7 to high school, the building now accommodates only Years 5 and 6 with the library amalgamated with the new Potter Library which opened in 2022.
In 2023, McAuley Hall was refurbished to continue to meet the needs of Years 5 and 6.
The McAuley Hall renovation included:
- 12 general learning areas designed to support pedagogy with new furniture throughout
- Multiple student/class breakout areas
- Learning support meeting areas
- Instrument and other storage spaces, changeroom, and bathroom facilities
- Office space for Head of Years 5 & 6
- Meeting room
- Staff room for 10-13 staff with kitchenette, dining area, and hot desks for support staff
The Potter Building
All Hallows' partnered with the creative innovators at Fulton Trotter Architects to deliver a total re-design and re-purposing of one of our key campus buildings.
The reimagined Potter Building was opened in 2022 and has become an inspiring learning hub located in the heart of our school.
The new facility houses a range of related functions including:
- A library with additional space
- An integration of Blue Chip student IT support services
- An enlarged senior study centre and maker spaces for senior and middle school
- Sport Department staff offices with access through to the gym
- Two Head of House offices
- The Career Counselling office
- Staff areas with a variety of teaching and collaboration spaces
With eco-friendly design elements, sympathetic to our beautiful heritage environment, the transformation has made the most of stunning views, natural light, timber and greenery, creating a vibrant learning hub, where staff and students alike share a journey of growth and discovery.
The existing four floors have been extended laterally, with internal stairwells for connectivity. Two external stairwells are a striking focal point of the building while the addition of a fifth floor has created much-needed space with a stunning rooftop function room and terrace to house special events and celebrations.
